RIYADH — Riyadh has achieved several major milestones in its preparations to host Expo 2030, with construction and infrastructure work continuing to progress across the project site.

According to project updates, more than 8 million cubic meters of excavation and backfilling have been completed as development advances under the Expo’s theme, “Foresight for Tomorrow.”

Construction has also progressed on the project’s main service corridor, with 2 kilometers of the planned 7.5-kilometer network now completed.

The project has recorded 2.1 million safe working hours without workplace injuries, reflecting its ongoing focus on construction safety and operational standards.

Environmental initiatives have also been implemented during development, including the safe relocation of 719 trees and the reintroduction of 80 wildlife creatures to suitable habitats.

Riyadh Expo 2030 has further strengthened international cooperation by signing a collaboration agreement with Expo 2027 Belgrade and establishing a Structured Knowledge Transfer and Observer Program to exchange expertise.

According to the official Expo 2030 Riyadh website, the event will cover approximately 6 million square meters and include hundreds of pavilions built around three main themes: transformational technology, sustainable solutions, and prosperous people.

The Expo site is being developed in northern Riyadh, around 10 minutes from King Khalid International Airport, with a dedicated Riyadh Metro station currently under construction to improve visitor access.

Project officials said the location was selected for its accessibility, transportation connectivity, and alignment with Riyadh’s long-term urban development plans.
