Thunderstorms Forecast Across Parts of Saudi Arabia as Temperatures Reach 47°C
JEDDAH — Thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall are expected in parts of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, while temperatures could reach as high as 47°C in some areas, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM).
Riyadh is forecast to record a high of 46°C, while temperatures are expected to reach 44°C in Makkah, 45°C in Madinah and 42°C in Jeddah. Dammam is expected to be the hottest among the major cities, with temperatures reaching 47°C.
In other parts of the Kingdom, temperatures are forecast to reach 32°C in Abha, 39°C in Tabuk, 47°C in Buraidah, 42°C in Hail and Najran, 31°C in Al-Baha, 45°C in Arar, 43°C in Sakaka and 38°C in Jazan.
Hot to extremely hot conditions are also expected to continue in parts of the Northern Borders region.
According to the NCM’s rainfall forecast, thunderclouds accompanied by rain are expected over parts of Jazan, Asir, Najran, Riyadh and the Eastern Province.
Active winds carrying dust and sand are also expected across parts of these regions, as well as areas of Madinah and Makkah. Visibility could fall to nearly zero along the coastal road leading to Jazan.
In Riyadh, the forecast includes thunderstorm clouds, active winds and raised dust. Makkah and Jeddah are expected to experience partly cloudy skies along with active winds and raised dust.
Madinah is forecast to remain partly cloudy, while Dammam could see suspended dust, partly cloudy to cloudy skies and active winds. Tabuk is expected to experience active winds.
Buraidah is forecast to be partly cloudy with active winds and raised dust, while Hail is expected to see partly cloudy skies and active winds. Al-Baha could experience suspended dust, partly cloudy skies and active winds.
Abha is forecast to experience thunderstorm clouds and active winds. Jazan is expected to see thunderstorm clouds accompanied by active winds and raised dust, while Najran could experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, active winds and raised dust.
