31,700 Saudi Engineers Work in Contracting Sector

RIYADH — The number of Saudi men and women working in the Kingdom’s contracting sector reached approximately 582,000 by the end of 2025, including around 31,700 engineers, according to a report by the Saudi Contractors Authority.

The report said Saudi workers in the contracting sector were distributed across several occupational categories. Support, administrative and logistical positions accounted for more than 328,000 workers, while technical jobs employed around 149,000. The sector also included approximately 38,700 workers, 31,700 engineers, and more than 34,000 employees in other professions.

The number of establishments operating in Saudi Arabia’s contracting sector reached approximately 365,000 in 2025, representing a 29.6 percent increase compared with 2024.

Micro enterprises made up the largest share of contracting establishments, accounting for approximately 85 percent of the total. Small establishments represented 12.5 percent, followed by medium-sized establishments at 2.34 percent.

Large and giant establishments accounted for the smallest combined share, at approximately 0.26 percent of the sector’s total establishments.

The figures highlight the continued expansion of Saudi Arabia’s contracting sector and the growing participation of Saudi workers across engineering, technical, administrative and other professional roles.
