RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Passports has announced 23 services available through electronic authorization on the Absher platform, allowing users to authorize another person to complete certain government services on their behalf.
The service enables Absher users to issue electronic authorizations for others and also allows them to view or cancel previously issued authorizations through Absher Individuals.
The available services include issuing and canceling travel permits for dependents, reporting lost or damaged passports, issuing and renewing iqamas (residency permits) for expatriates, receiving printed copies of iqamas, and issuing or canceling exit and re-entry visas and final exit visas. The services also cover reporting lost iqamas, reporting lost passports of expatriates, reporting absconding workers, and adding or removing dependents.
Other electronic authorization services include transferring a dependent’s status to the head of the household, changing professions, transferring services, transferring information, extending visit visas, issuing and renewing passports, receiving passports, registering a “left and not returned” status, authorizing resident services, and checking previous passports.
To issue an electronic authorization, the national identity card or iqama must be valid. Both the authorizing person and the authorized individual must also be free of violations or financial restrictions, depending on the type of service being authorized.
