RIYADH — The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has launched the Riyadh Digital District, a strategic initiative designed to position the Saudi capital as a leading global destination for technology talent, digital innovation and entrepreneurship.

The initiative aims to attract international technology professionals and establish a global center that brings together skilled talent, entrepreneurs and technology companies. It is expected to support the growth of a knowledge-based economy driven by digital innovation and technological advancement.

Riyadh Digital District will concentrate on six key technology fields: artificial intelligence and big data, cybersecurity, cloud computing and services, the Internet of Things, blockchain, and robotics and drones.

The district will provide specialized incentives for large and medium-sized technology companies, rapidly growing businesses and innovative startups. It will also offer advanced digital infrastructure supported by a broad range of services and facilities.

The initiative is designed to create an integrated business environment where technology companies, skilled professionals and investors can collaborate and expand, contributing to the continued growth of Riyadh’s digital economy.

The RCRC said the long-term objective is to place Riyadh among the world’s top 10 technology regions, while strengthening the city’s position as a global destination for technology talent, international companies and digital entrepreneurship.

The commission also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s progress in digital transformation. The Kingdom ranked second globally in the World Bank’s GovTech Maturity Index 2025 and first in the 2025 ICT Development Index. Saudi Arabia was also recognized among the leading countries in artificial intelligence in the Stanford AI Index 2025.

Riyadh also ranked first in the StartupBlink 2026 index, with the city recording rapid growth among the world’s top 100 cities and G20 capitals.

RCRC CEO and Minister of State and Cabinet Member Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Sultan said the initiative would help establish Riyadh as a global destination for technology talent, international technology companies and digital entrepreneurs.

He said the project reflects the leadership’s commitment to advancing Riyadh’s position in promising future sectors, strengthening Saudi Arabia’s role in digital transformation, encouraging innovation and supporting initiatives focused on future economic opportunities.
