RIYADH — The Saudi Space Agency has launched a new guide highlighting major astronomical events and celestial phenomena expected to be visible in the skies over Saudi Arabia between 2026 and 2030.

The guide is part of the agency’s efforts to increase public awareness of space and astronomy by providing accessible scientific information about celestial events, their timings and key characteristics.

It covers 62 astronomical events over five years, including solar and lunar eclipses, meteor showers, planetary conjunctions and oppositions, as well as equinoxes and solstices. The guide includes nine events in 2026, 12 in 2027, 14 in 2028, 15 in 2029 and 12 in 2030.

The agency said the guide provides simplified explanations and definitions for each event, helping the public and astronomy enthusiasts better understand and observe different celestial phenomena.

It also includes guidance on observing astronomical events using safe and scientifically appropriate methods, making the guide a useful reference for those interested in following major events in the night and daytime skies.

The guide builds on the Saudi Space Agency’s broader efforts to promote knowledge of space and astronomy and expand specialized educational content. These efforts include the Knowledge Space Portal, which provides accessible information on space science and related concepts for students, researchers, enthusiasts and the wider public.
