Saudi Arabia Introduces Electronic Travel Authorization for UK Visitors
RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the introduction of an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system for British citizens visiting the Kingdom. The new service will take effect on July 1, 2026.
The ministry said the initiative reflects the long-standing relationship between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom and builds on the travel facilitation measures previously introduced by the UK for Saudi citizens.
The ETA will be available to all holders of British passports traveling to Saudi Arabia for tourism, business, or short-term study purposes.
Under the new system, eligible travelers will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for up to 180 consecutive days within a one-year period. The authorization also allows multiple entries using a single electronic travel approval.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that the ETA does not permit employment or residency in Saudi Arabia. It also cannot be used for Hajj travel, which remains subject to separate visa requirements.
