GASTAT Launches Digital Economy Survey Across Saudi Arabia
RIYADH — The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) has launched a nationwide Digital Economy Survey aimed at identifying businesses that depend on digital technologies and measuring the role of digital inputs across Saudi Arabia’s economy.
The survey will examine establishments whose operations are supported or significantly enhanced by digital resources, including digital technologies, digital infrastructure, digital services, and data.
Information will be collected from a representative sample of businesses operating across a wide range of economic sectors in all regions of the Kingdom.
According to GASTAT, one of the survey’s key objectives is to build a comprehensive database that will support the development of studies, statistics, and indicators related to Saudi Arabia’s growing digital economy.
The initiative also seeks to create a reliable source of information for researchers, academic institutions, and other stakeholders, helping to advance scientific research and deepen understanding of the Kingdom’s digital transformation.
In addition, the survey will provide policymakers and decision-makers with accurate statistical data to support evidence-based policy development and informed planning for the digital economy.
GASTAT said the findings will also enable local, regional, and international comparisons, offering a clearer picture of the digital economy’s contribution to Saudi Arabia’s national economy.
