RIYADH — The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has launched a new phase of the Taif Road Development Project, introducing a major bridge and extensive road improvements aimed at easing congestion and increasing the road’s capacity to serve approximately 200,000 vehicles each day.

The latest phase includes the construction of a 311-meter-long and 36-meter-wide bridge at the intersection of Taif Road and Taibah Street. The project stretches from the Taif Road–Najd Street intersection in the west to the Western Ring Road in the east.

As part of the upgrade, the project will also include modern pedestrian bridges to improve road safety and provide safer crossing points for residents and visitors.

Once completed, the 15-kilometer corridor will feature four main lanes in each direction, helping improve traffic flow, reduce travel times, and support future transportation demand.

To reduce disruption during construction, RCRC has introduced a comprehensive traffic management plan in coordination with relevant authorities. The plan includes a temporary three-lane diversion in each direction at the Taif Road–Taibah Street intersection, which took effect on July 31.

The commission also said it is updating digital platforms and navigation applications with real-time information about traffic diversions, allowing motorists to plan their journeys more efficiently and use alternative routes when needed.
