Riyadh Launches Fourth Phase of Road Axes Program, Serving 950,000 Vehicles Daily
RIYADH: The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has announced the implementation of the fourth phase of the Main and Ring Road Axes Program, a major infrastructure initiative featuring four road projects spanning a combined 40 kilometers with an investment value of SR9.8 billion.
Once completed, the projects are expected to support the movement of up to 950,000 vehicles each day, helping improve traffic flow and strengthen connectivity across the capital’s expanding road network.
The fourth phase includes the development of Sheikh Jaber Road, Prince Mishal bin Abdulaziz Road, Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz I Road, and Najm Ad-Din Al-Ayyubi Road.

Sheikh Jaber Road will extend approximately 12 kilometers, linking Thumamah Road in the north with Khurais Road in the south. Meanwhile, the Najm Ad-Din Al-Ayyubi Road project will cover 13 kilometers, connecting Jeddah Road with Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib Street.
Prince Mishal bin Abdulaziz Road will stretch six kilometers from the Wadi Hanifa Bridge to the Western Ring Road, while the nine-kilometer Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz I Road project will connect Makkah Al-Mukarramah Road with Al-Arijah, passing through Al-Rafiah district and Wadi Hanifa along the route.
The combined infrastructure works will include 14 major intersections, 33 bridges, six pedestrian bridges, and five tunnels. The upgraded network will also feature 14 primary traffic lanes and nine secondary lanes designed to enhance mobility and accommodate future transportation demand.
The latest phase forms part of Riyadh’s broader efforts to modernize its transportation infrastructure, improve urban connectivity, and support the city’s continued growth and development.
