Saudi Arabia Grants Acwa Exclusive Green Hydrogen Export Rights

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has granted Acwa an exclusive mandate to export green hydrogen and its derivatives produced in the Kingdom to international markets, strengthening the country’s position in the global clean energy sector.

The company has also been tasked with developing renewable electricity export projects that will supply markets across Europe and the Arab region.

Under the new mandate, Acwa will hold the exclusive right to export Saudi-produced green hydrogen and its derivatives, including green ammonia, green methanol, and green fuels, as worldwide demand for low-carbon energy solutions continues to grow.

In addition to green hydrogen exports, Acwa will lead projects focused on the production, transmission, and export of renewable electricity, supporting regional energy security while expanding Saudi Arabia’s clean energy exports.

According to the announcement, Acwa currently manages a portfolio of 111 assets across 16 countries, with assets under management valued at approximately SR468.9 billion ($125 billion).

The government said the initiative further strengthens Acwa’s role as a strategic partner in advancing Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification, industrial development, and long-term clean energy goals under the Kingdom’s broader transformation strategy.
