RIYADH — Saudi Arabia issued and renewed more than 274,000 commercial licenses during the first half of 2026, reflecting continued business growth and the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen its investment environment through advanced digital services.

According to the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, the total included over 97,000 new commercial licenses and more than 177,000 license renewals, highlighting the steady expansion of commercial activity across the country.

The ministry also processed over 91,000 commercial license amendments, more than 43,000 requests to add new business activities, and around 39,000 ownership transfer requests during the same period, supporting a wide range of business needs.

Ministry spokesperson Mohammed Al Rassasmah said the figures reflect ongoing efforts to modernize the municipal licensing system by simplifying procedures and expanding digital services, making transactions faster and more convenient for investors and entrepreneurs.

He added that the Balady platform continues to play a key role in delivering integrated municipal services while supporting private sector growth through digital transformation.

Al Rassasmah noted that the steady rise in commercial licensing demonstrates the growing appeal of Saudi cities as investment destinations and highlights the success of initiatives designed to empower the private sector, stimulate commercial activity, and contribute to sustainable economic development.
