RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce has announced a special three-month discount season, allowing commercial establishments and online stores to offer promotional discounts without reducing their annual allocation of permitted discount days.

According to a circular issued to the Federation of Saudi Chambers, the special discount season will run from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31, 2026, and the promotional period will not count toward the annual limit of discount campaigns allowed for businesses.

The ministry said commercial establishments and e-commerce platforms can apply electronically for discount licenses through its official website, making it easy to obtain, print, and display the permits for customers.

Businesses were encouraged to take advantage of the initiative while ensuring full compliance with the regulations governing promotional campaigns. The Federation of Saudi Chambers also called on private sector establishments to participate in the campaign to maximize benefits for both businesses and consumers.

Under the ministry’s current regulations, commercial establishments are allowed to conduct discount campaigns for up to 90 days each year, which may be divided into three separate promotional periods. Each license can cover a maximum of 45 days for either full-store or partial discounts.

The newly announced three-month discount season is an additional opportunity for businesses and will not be deducted from their regular annual allocation of permitted discount days.
