Saudi Arabia Ranked Safest G20 Nation in 2025

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has been ranked the safest country among G20 nations, according to a report released by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT). The ranking is based on data submitted by countries to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Indicators Database and compared with the 2023 Safety Index.

The report found that 97.7 percent of people in Saudi Arabia said they feel safe walking alone at night in their neighborhoods.

Among men aged 15 and above, 97 percent reported feeling safe, with 86 percent saying they feel very safe and 11 percent describing themselves as somewhat safe.

Among women aged 15 and above, 94.9 percent said they feel safe walking alone at night, while 81.7 percent reported feeling very safe. In comparison, 88.2 percent of adult men said they feel very safe.

Older residents also expressed a strong sense of security. Among people aged 60 to 64, 97.2 percent said they feel safe walking alone at night, while those aged 65 and above recorded the highest proportion of respondents who feel very safe, at 89.6 percent.

According to the report, the results reflect the efforts of government authorities to maintain high levels of public safety across the Kingdom’s regions and governorates. The findings also highlight Saudi Arabia’s ongoing work to strengthen security, stability, and quality of life across multiple sectors, including economic, food, environmental, health, social, political, intellectual, technological, and cybersecurity, in support of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

GASTAT noted that all of its statistical activities follow a unified methodology based on the Statistical Business Process Manual, which aligns with internationally recognized standards used by leading statistical organizations.
