RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has strengthened its position as one of the world’s leading digital economies, with average mobile internet speeds reaching 216 Mbps in 2025, up from 203 Mbps the previous year, according to the fifth edition of the Saudi Internet 2025 Report released by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST).

The improved performance, supported by the Kingdom’s expanding digital infrastructure, places Saudi Arabia among the top five G20 countries for mobile internet speed.

The report also revealed that the average monthly mobile internet data consumption per person reached 53 GB, nearly three times higher than the global average.

Saudi Arabia’s 5G networks recorded a median download speed of 320 Mbps, while the median mobile internet latency stood at 24 milliseconds.

In the fixed broadband sector, the median download speed increased to 151 Mbps, compared with 120.4 Mbps in the previous year. Median upload speeds reached 73 Mbps, while median latency improved to 8 milliseconds, based on data analyzed by Ookla.

According to the report, total internet data traffic across the Kingdom reached 69 million terabytes, with 56 percent generated from domestic traffic and 44 percent from international traffic.

Mobile and fixed internet networks each accounted for 50 percent of the Kingdom’s total internet traffic.

Among Saudi regions, Riyadh recorded the largest share of internet traffic at 30.6 percent, followed by the Makkah Region with 20.5 percent, and the Eastern Province with 16.8 percent.

The report further noted that 67 percent of users have enabled Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6), while the number of Saudi Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) has grown to nearly 200, reflecting the continued expansion of the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure and its ability to support rapidly growing digital services.

The publication comes as Saudi Arabia ranked first globally in the 2026 Information and Communication Technology Development Index issued by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), outperforming 159 economies worldwide.
