Saudi Arabia Unveils New Plan to Enhance Quality of Life in Asir
ABHA — Saudi Arabia is expanding urban development projects across the Asir region as part of ongoing efforts to improve quality of life, strengthen public infrastructure, and support tourism and economic growth.
According to the Asir Municipality, projects focused on humanizing roads, upgrading public facilities, and enhancing the urban landscape have become a key part of the region’s development strategy, creating more attractive, accessible, and people-friendly cities for residents and visitors.
Asir Mayor Abdullah Al-Jali said the municipality launched its urban landscape maintenance program in 2022, with work covering roads, sidewalks, street lighting, public facilities, and other community-focused improvements.
The initiatives aim to create safer, more vibrant public spaces while enhancing the appeal of tourist attractions and commercial districts throughout the region.
Al-Jali said the projects now extend beyond improving the appearance of cities, serving as an important driver of local economic growth by encouraging commercial activity and increasing the efficiency and usability of public spaces.
He added that the continued development of urban areas and tourist destinations is helping enrich the overall visitor experience while supporting Asir’s long-term development goals.
