Saudi ICT Minister Strengthens AI and Robotics Partnerships in Shenzhen
SHENZHEN — Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Al-Swaha, held a series of high-level meetings with leading technology companies and research institutions in Shenzhen, China, to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence, robotics, cloud computing, digital infrastructure, and innovation.
The visit was attended by Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) Governor Haytham Al-Ohali, Digital Government Authority Governor Ahmed Al-Suwaiyan, and Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones Chairman Faisal Al-Khamisi.
During his visit, Al-Swaha met Huawei Chairman David Wang to discuss expanding collaboration in digital infrastructure, AI technologies, cloud solutions, and talent development, reinforcing the strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Huawei in advanced technologies.
The minister also met 20 Saudi students who recently completed a specialized artificial intelligence training program organized by Mawhiba in partnership with Huawei at the company’s headquarters in Shenzhen.
The discussions focused on the future of artificial intelligence, the role of Saudi talent in supporting Vision 2030, and the importance of investing in emerging technologies and future digital skills.
As part of the visit, Al-Swaha also met executives from UBTECH Robotics, where he reviewed the company’s latest robotics technologies and explored opportunities to introduce intelligent robotics solutions that support innovation and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s digital economy.
The minister later met Intellifusion Founder and CEO Dr. Chen Ning to discuss cooperation in artificial intelligence, AI inference chips, computer vision, and smart city technologies aimed at improving the efficiency and sustainability of digital services.
Al-Swaha also toured the KAUST Innovation Hub in Shenzhen and met entrepreneurs participating in the ninth Tech Founders program. He reviewed their projects and discussed ways to help Saudi startups benefit from Shenzhen’s technology, manufacturing, and investment ecosystem while expanding into international markets.
