Thunderstorms, Hail Forecast Across Saudi Arabia as Temperatures Reach 48°C
JEDDAH — Thunderstorms accompanied by hail and active winds are expected to affect parts of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, while temperatures are forecast to reach as high as 48°C in some areas, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM).
Riyadh is forecast to reach a high of 47°C, while temperatures are expected to reach 43°C in Makkah, 42°C in Madinah, and 41°C in Jeddah. Dammam is expected to record the highest temperature among the listed cities at 48°C.
Elsewhere, temperatures are forecast to reach 30°C in Abha, 37°C in Tabuk, 46°C in Buraidah, 41°C in Hail and Najran, 32°C in Al-Baha, 40°C in Arar, 39°C in Sakaka, and 38°C in Jazan.
According to the NCM’s rainfall forecast, thundery rain accompanied by hail and active winds is expected to continue over parts of Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha, as well as the highlands of the Makkah region.
Thunderclouds are also forecast over parts of the Eastern Province and Riyadh, while active surface winds carrying dust and sand are expected across parts of these regions, along with areas of Najran and Madinah.
Fog may develop over the highlands in the southwestern parts of the Kingdom, while horizontal visibility could be significantly reduced or temporarily disappear along parts of the southern coastal areas of the Makkah region.
In Riyadh, partly cloudy conditions are forecast, while Makkah is expected to be partly cloudy with active winds. Madinah is forecast to experience active winds.
Jeddah is expected to remain clear to partly cloudy with active winds, while Dammam is forecast to have clear to partly cloudy skies.
Abha is expected to experience thundery rain and active winds, while Tabuk is forecast to have clear skies. Buraidah and Hail are expected to remain clear to partly cloudy.
Al-Baha is forecast to experience rain-bearing thunderclouds and active winds, while Arar is expected to be clear to partly cloudy with active winds. Sakaka is also forecast to experience active winds.
Jazan is expected to see thundery rain accompanied by active winds and raised dust, while Najran is forecast to remain partly cloudy with active winds and suspended dust.
