RIYADH — The value of transactions processed through the Saudi Central Bank’s (SAMA) instant money transfer system rose 26.1 percent year-on-year to SR7 trillion in June 2026, compared with SR5.5 trillion in June 2025.
According to SAMA data, total customer payments reached SR1.6 trillion in June 2026, up from SR1.4 trillion during the same month last year. Interbank payments amounted to around SR5 trillion, compared with SR3.8 trillion in June 2025, while other transfers reached SR198.6 billion, compared with SR186 billion a year earlier.
The instant money transfer system covers three main categories of transactions: customer payments, interbank payments and other transfers.
Customer payments increased to SR1.6 trillion in June 2026 from SR1.2 trillion in May. Interbank payments rose to SR5.1 trillion during June, compared with SR3.3 trillion in May, while other transfers increased to SR198.6 billion from SR102.6 billion during the same period.
SAMA’s instant money transfer system enables individuals and businesses to make low-value interbank transfers of up to SR20,000 instantly through participating banks.
The increase highlights the continued growth in the use of instant digital payment services across Saudi Arabia and reflects the expanding role of electronic transactions in the Kingdom’s financial sector.
